How to seal Chalk Synthesis Paint with Wax
Waxing furniture leaves a gorgeous natural finish. Sealing your Chalk Synthesis Paint with wax with strengthen and protect your paint whilst leaving a velvety matte finish.
Wise Owl have 2 choices of wax finish.
• NATURAL FURNITURE WAX - a coconut oil base with a blend of natural waxes.
• FURNITURE SALVE - a hemp oil base with a blended of natural waxes. Available in scented or unscented which is food grade.
Wise Owl Waxes are solvent free so do take a little while to dry.
Here are the steps for application:
1. Apply using a wax brush or lint free cloth.
2. Wipe away any excess.
3. Come back and buff.
Buffing will help to create an even finish but will maximise the durability of the finish. If you want your finish shinier then buff more!
If you find your finish is patchy you may need another coat. Wood that is dry will soak in the salve quicker.
You can use the wax and salve to seal freshly painted pieces but you can also use them over existing finishes to revive them.
Wax and Salve have a 28 day cure time so take extra care during this time.
Over time you can come back and re-wax or use the waxes or salves as a polish to keep your piece looking fresh.
